82ND STREET

The 82nd Street project is a compelling example of modern Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) design, emphasizing how compact living can be both highly functional and architecturally striking. Jonathan Wang Design approached this project with a focus on maximizing volume and light, transforming a secondary structure into a bright, airy residence that feels significantly larger than its footprint. The exterior features a clean, contemporary silhouette with dark vertical siding that provides a bold contrast to the surrounding landscape, while the interior is defined by soaring ceilings, white-oak finishes, and an abundance of natural light streaming through large-format windows and strategic skylights.

The design philosophy within the 82nd Street ADU centers on ""minimalist warmth."" Every square foot is optimized for efficiency without sacrificing style; the open-plan kitchen and living area utilize custom cabinetry and integrated storage to maintain a clutter-free environment. High-end finishes, such as polished concrete floors and minimalist black hardware, lend a refined, urban feel to the space. By carefully balancing private sleeping quarters with a generous communal living zone, the project demonstrates a sophisticated approach to urban densification, offering a serene and luxurious retreat that serves as a benchmark for modern residential planning.
