DEVONWOOD

The Devonwood Project: A Vision of Resilience and Panoramic Design in Altadena

The Devonwood Project in Altadena represents a significant fire rebuild endeavor, culminating in the construction of a new 3500 square foot single-story main residence and an accompanying 1200 square foot recreation room. Situated advantageously on the high side of the road, the property commands unparalleled mountain views to the north and sweeping city vistas to the south. The architectural design is fundamentally driven by the principle of framed views, meticulously orienting spaces to capitalize on these exceptional site features.

A defining material choice is the proposed lime stone cladding, which not only grounds the structure in its natural environment but also extends internally as a feature wall, artfully dissolving the conventional division between indoor and outdoor spaces. The rendering clearly illustrates the distinctive flat roofline with clean, modern lines, contributing to the home's contemporary aesthetic. Prominent throughout the design are the expansive glass windows and doors, which are thoughtfully integrated to maximize natural light and visual connection to the landscape. The property's approach is further enhanced by a long, winding driveway that gracefully ascends to the residence, offering a sense of arrival and seclusion.
